Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed today that the Armenian government is negotiating a new document on creating a joint Armenian-Azerbaijani commission on border delimitation.
The paper was first published by Armenia's former ambassador Mikayel Minasyan.
Pashinyan accused Minasyan of being an agent of Azerbaijan's information warfare.
The acting PM said Armenia has reached preliminary agreements with its international colleagues, and that those "solutions are 100% in line with the interests of the Republic of Armenia."
The title of the document posted on Minasyan's Telegram channel reads: "Statement by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and President of the Russian Federation."
In the first paragraph, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin state the following: "In order to strengthen peace, stability and security in the region in accordance with the statements of the leaders of the three countries of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021, a joint Commission to delimit the border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia with its subsequent demarcation is being created."
According to the second paragraph, "the governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia form national delegations within the Commission until May 31, 2021."
The rest of the text is hidden, but according to the fifth paragraph, the Commission is obliged to carry out some work by June 30, 2021.
In addition, Nikol Pashinyan said today that the task of the Armenian authorities is to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control. The politician described the diplomatic work carried out by Yerevan as productive.
The acting prime minister added that up to 600 Azerbaijani soldiers are currently stationed at various parts in the territory of Armenia.
