Patriarch Kirill finds replacement for Vsevolod Chaplin

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has appointed the publicist Alexander Shchipkov as the first deputy chairman of the Synodal Department for Church and Society and Media, the department reports.

In this role, he will deal with interaction with public authorities and NGOs.

Alexander Schipkov was born in 1957. He is a specialist in the field of state-religious relations, State Councillor of the 3rd Class, director of the Center for Social Research, a member of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church. Shchipkov wrote the books ‘In What Does Russia Believe?’, ‘The Cathedral Yard’, ‘Christian Democracy in Russia’, ‘The Territory of the Church’, ‘The Religious Dimension of Journalism’, ‘The Bronze Age in Russia. View from Tarusa’, and the books ‘Traditionalism, Liberalism and neo-Nazism in the Sphere of Topical Policy’, ‘National History as a Social Contract’, and ‘Dialectics of Economic and Religious Ethics in the Development of Russian Social-traditionalism’, Interfax reports.
