Pegasus Airlines launches Ankara-Tbilisi flights

Turkish-based Pegasus Airlines has launched flights connecting the capitals of Türkiye and Georgia, with first passengers arriving on Wednesday, TAV Georgia, the company operating Tbilisi and Batumi airports, has announced.

The start of the flights between Ankara and Tbilisi by the budget airline was also noted by Georgia’s Türkiye ambassador Giorgi Janjgava, who tweeted the direct connection was “of great importance”, particularly for deepening mutual cooperation in tourism, trade and culture.

Pegasus will carry Tbilisi-Ankara-Tbilisi passengers twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The first flight between the cities took place by Turkish Airlines with the initiative of the Georgian embassy to Türkiye in January 2019, but was later suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
