Pentagon: China seeks to double its nuclear arsenal

Washington must modernize its nuclear forces as China seeks to double its nuclear arsenal, the head of the Pentagon, Mark Esper said.

"As communist China moves towards at least doubling its nuclear arsenal, modernizing our nuclear forces and maintaining combat readiness is imperative to [keep - ed] the Indo-Pacific region free and open," he stressed.
