The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley told a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing about the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan and evacuation that the Taliban movement (outlawed in Russia) still have not broken ties with Al-Qaeda (the terrorist group outlawed in Russia).
The general also said the Taliban "was and remains a terrorist organization and they still have not broken ties with Al-Qaeda. "I have no illusions who we are dealing with," he said.
"A reconstituted Al Qaeda or ISIS (the terrorist group outlawed in Russia) with aspirations to attack the United States is a very real possibility," AFP cited the general as saying.
