Pentagon in search for alternative to Turkey in F-35 program

The US tends to replace Turkey as a member country participating in the program for creation of the fifth generation F-35 jet fighter due to Ankara’s intention to acquire S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from Moscow, the US Under Secretary of Defense for Procurement and Logistics, Ellen Lord, said today at a press conference.

"We have been working for some time, considering alternative sources for the F-35 supply chain that is inside Turkey right now. Despite this, we continue to work with Turkey and hope that they will use a system meeting NATO standards for their air defense,” the Under Secretary said, RIA Novosti reports.
