‘‘The Pentagon, as well as other US law enforcement agencies, is considering the resumption of contacts with Russia,’’ Defense Department spokesman Peter Cook said, commenting on the statement by US Secretary of State John Kerry regarding the Russian suggestion.
According to him, the current head of the Defense Department Ashton Carter ‘’hasn’t had a conversation with his Russian counterpart since his appointment,’’ as he "considered such contacts unconstructive.’’
"I cannot inform you about any specific contacts now. Certainly, we are aware of such a proposal. It is being considered. But there is no decision yet," Tass cites Peter Cook.
