Persian Gulf Star to be launched in 2017

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined that the country will no more need to import gasoline from foreign countries once its Persian Gulf Star refinery starts operation next year.

"We will not need to import gasoline for the first time in Iran's history after the inauguration of this refinery and we will even be able to export a part of our gasoline products," Rouhani said.

He also said that Iran was an importer of gasoil in previous years, but it is now an exporter making revenues from the sales of its surplus.

The facility, with a production capacity of 360,000 barrels/day, is the biggest condensate refinery in the Persian Gulf regions and even the Middle East. The facility can process up to 36 million liters a day of Euro-4 gasoline and 14 ml/d of Euro-4 gasoil, Farsnews reports.
