Commenting on French President Francois Hollande's statement about "a risk of war" between Russia and Turkey because of Ankara’s strikes at Kurdish positions in Syria, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that such a formulation is inappropriate.
"The formulation is inappropriate, because you understand that there are Syrian Armed Forces, which are also being shelled," RBC cited him as saying.
Peskov also said that the Kremlin "is concerned about growing tensions on the Syrian-Turkish border." "In general, Russia views such trans-border strikes by Turkish artillery and artillery strikes at the Syrian territory as unacceptable," the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation cited him as saying.
He also added that tensions on the Syrian-Turkish border were discussed at a recent meeting of the Russian Security Council.
