The Kremlin believes it is premature to discuss whether Ramzan Kadyrov will remain Chechnya’s leader for another term or whether some other candidate will be proposed, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"It is premature to say anything. There is an established tenure (of office of Chechnya’s leader). The president will make a decision when the term expires," TASS cited Peskov as saying. He also said that a similar decision of the heads of state in advance is never disclosed.
Earlier, Kadyrov said that he had not decided whether he would run again for the post of Chechnya’s leader. His current term expires in early April.
Chechnya’s leader will be elected on the annual election day, September 18, 2016.
