Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it is quite possible for a woman to become president of Russia.
"That’s quite possible. Perhaps, we should, first and foremost, proceed from the current legislation. Our Constitution says who can be the president. There are no gender differences," TASS cited him as saying.
The Kremlin spokesman recalled that there are a lot of women in the Russian government, ministries and agencies. "In this case women are quite active in all countries," Peskov noted.
