Iran is too important a player in the Middle East for it to be artificially isolated from participation in decision-making in the region. British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond stated.
At the same time, the UK Foreign Secretary pointed out that London and the entire Western world must perceive the gradual improvement of bilateral relations with Iran carefully. "We have to deal with a long history of mutual distrust, as well as serious differences of opinion on many important issues," Hammond stated.
The Foreign Secretary also drew attention to the fact that the new Iranian leadership was able to find "a more diverse approach" in relations with Jerusalem. He stressed that Britain will judge Iran "on Tehran's Israeli policy," TASS notes.
