Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to award three heroes of the Syrian operation, two of them posthumously.
"Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Peshkov has been awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously) for heroism, courage and bravery shown during the fulfillment of his military duties," RIA Novosti cited the presidential decree.
Furthermore, Captain Konstantin Murahtin and Naval Infantry Soldier Alexandr Pozynich (posthumously) were awarded the Order of Courage for their courage, bravery and selflessness in carrying out their military duties.
"The commander of the downed Su-24 will be awarded the Star of Hero of the Russian Federation posthumously," Putin added.
