Polad Bulbul oglu: Zakhra Guliyeva's death - signal to world about need to solve Karabakh conflict

The death of the little girl Zahra Guliyeva should show the world community that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be settled in accordance with international law, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Russia, Polad Bulbuloglu, the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reports.

The embassy held a mourning reception in connection with the death of Zahra and her grandmother Sahiba Guliyeva as a result of the shelling by the Armenian Armed Forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

"Dear friends, I want to express my gratitude to all of you, especially the Russians, who came to the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan today to express their attitude towards the killing of a two-year-old girl," Polad Bulbuloglu said, addressing the audience.

"It is not the first time when civilians, including children, die. There were cases when mined toys were deliberately thrown into the river, and several Azeri children were killed by mines. To our regret, we did not hear any words of condemnation from the world community then. We hope that this event will attract attention of the world community," the Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia said.

"Two-year-old Zahra gave her life for the world community to understand that this conflict should be stopped in the framework of international law. Civilians are dying, children are dying, civil infrastructure is being destroyed. But the world is indifferent," he said.

Polad Bulbul oglu stressed that the Azerbaijani people will never forget their martyrs. "We remember every martyr who gave his life for the freedom of his homeland. But it's one thing when they kill soldiers die, and another thing when they kill civilians. It's even more tragic when they kill small children," the ambassador said.

"Today, when there is the OSCE Minsk Group, when the three great world powers - Russia, the US and France - decided that they will send representatives and these representatives will make constructive proposals, it would seem that everything lies on the surface. 20% of the territory of Azerbaijan are occupied, more than a million refugees, there are the UN Security Council's four resolutions that require the unconditional withdrawal of occupation troops from occupied territory - but the world do nothing," he stressed.

Polad Bulbuloglu called on the world community to pay close attention to what is happening in Nagorno-Karabakh and solve the issue within the framework of international law. "It is clear who is the aggressor and who is the victim. The Azerbaijani Republic has said many times that we are committed to a peaceful resolution of this issue, but the issue is not being resolved. We have been waiting for the solution of this issue for more than 25 years, but we want this issue to be solved," the Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia concluded.
