The Azerbaijani-Russian inter-regional forums have become a good tradition, Azerbaijan's ambassador to Russia, Polad Bulbuloglu, said, speaking at the opening of the 7th Azerbaijani-Russian Inter-regional Forum in Baku.
"We are very pleased that this important area of our cooperation, cooperation with the regions of the Russian Federation, is being successfully developed,” the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza cited him as saying.
Polad Bulbuloglu stressed that it has become one of the most important and essential components of the strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia.
“It is important that as of January 1, 2016, Azerbaijan signed 36 agreements with 19 Russian regions,” he said.
The diplomat added that Azerbaijan and the Russian regions have already created successful formats of developing therelations in different spheres. “Baku considers it appropriate to approve the draft agreement, taking into account the specificity of each region to further maintain and develop the Azerbaijan-Russia relations,” he said.
The ambassador noted that today, success is mainly determined by the ability to adapt to the new conditions, by finding new ways of cooperation.
“One of the most promising projects of cooperation is the North-South large-scale transport project, which will connect the Russian ports to Asia and the Indian Ocean,” the ambassador said, adding that the project will open new prospects of cooperation among Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia.
According to him ,the implementation of the project will contribute to the financial stability of all participating countries in general and those Russian regions, through which the route will stretch.
“The friendly cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan is doomed to succeed,” Bulbuloglu concluded.
