U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accompanied Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on a visit to the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City yesterday.
The Secretary of State, U.S. Ambassador David Friedman and Netanyahu together approached the wall and each leaned against its massive stones with one hand. Pompeo then placed a prayer note in between the stones, as is customary, Reuters reported.
Pompeo became the first high-ranking American official to visit the Western Wall with an Israeli prime minister.
