Pope receives invitation to visit Kazakhstan

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has invited Pope Leo XIV to visit Kazakhstan on an apostolic journey, according to the press service of the country's Senate.

 

Tokayev's invitation was received by the pontiff during an audience with the speaker of the Kazakh Senate.

 

"Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev conveyed a special message from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pope Leo XIV. The head of state extended warm greetings to the pontiff and officially invited His Holiness to make an apostolic visit to our country",

the press service reported.

During the audience, Pope Leo XIV reportedly praised Kazakhstan's contribution to strengthening harmony between representatives of different religions and reiterated his commitment to further cooperation with the nation.

 

Pope Leo XIV's first international trip in late November 2025 was to Türkiye and Lebanon.
