President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has proposed taking away Russia's right to a veto in the UN Security Council regarding decisions on those conflicts in which Moscow participates, while leaving representatives of the Russian Federation as part of the structure.
Poroshenko noted that such a measure would allow the mechanisms of the Security Council to be made as effective as they once were, because right now they do not work, and the Security Council is unable to fulfill its function. "If you make a decision that can be blocked by the Security Council, there should be an alternative for maintaining security in the world," Interfax quotes his words in an interview with 'Voice of America'.
