President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits arrived in Azerbaijan on an official visit on March 8.
At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, where the national flags of both countries fluttered, a guard of honor was lined up in honor of the distinguished guest, AzerTac reported.
Latvian President Egils Levits was welcomed by First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov and other officials.
It is expected that as part of the visit to Baku the president of Latvia will take part in the Global Baku Forum slated to be held in the Azerbaijani capital on March 9-11.
