The prosecutor's office of North Ossetia has launched an investigation into threats and the attempted murder of the regional Mufti Khadzhimurat Gatsalov, representatives of the office report.
"We have received an application. An investigation is being carried out now," RIA Novosti reports.
According to Gatsalov, on January 5th he received an e-mail with a demand to resign from the post of Mufti of the region, and to explain that this decision was due to poor health. Otherwise, an unidentified individual threatened to murder him.
