Puchkov: SCO countries should jointly fight against world cataclysms

The cooperation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries in disaster management makes a significant contribution to regional security and has good prospects for further development, the head of Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov said at the meeting of heads of emergency departments of the SCO members.

He recalled that the world community faces serious natural and man-made disasters every day, which is why the heads of state noted the need to increase efforts and deepen the dialogue in this area, speaking at the SCO summit in Astana in June, TASS reported.

The meeting of the heads of the Ministries of Emergency Situations of the SCO member states is being held on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. It is attended by ministers of emergency departments of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan, which entered the SCO this year, are participating in the meeting for the first time.
