Russia has managed to prove to the United States and other countries that a political solution in Syria is possible only through diplomatic channels. This opinion was expressed today by the chairman of the Duma's International Affairs Committee Alexei Pushkov.
According to him, the US, Saudi Arabia and Turkey supported a military solution to the Syrian crisis. "We said from the very beginning that a military solution to the crisis in Syria is impossible. There can only be a political solution that involves all the parties to the Syrian conflict, and our point of view prevailed. We really proved that a political solution is necessary," Tass cites the parliamentarian as saying.
Recall that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated earlier that the operation of the Russian Air Forces helped create the conditions for a political settlement in Syria.
