Today Baku hosted a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Russian side was represented by presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Energy Alexander Novak, head of Rosatom Sergei Kiriyenko and the head of Gazprom Alexey Miller.
As part of the talks, the two leaders exchanged experiences on the eve of the opening ceremony of the First European Games, which they both attended. In particular, the head of the Turkish state drew attention to the fact that the ceremony was not attended by any of the leaders of the EU countries. "Turkey, as a candidate for accession to the EU, is representing the entire European Union," Tass quotes Putin as saying.
The two presidents agreed that the ceremony was very colorful and mutually wished success to the teams of their countries and the athletes of the host of the Games – Azerbaijan.
