A telephone conversation was held yesterday between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, during which the parties discussed the situation in Syria, as well as the fight against Islamic State and other terrorist groups. The conversation was held on the initiative of Russian side.
As the press service of the Kremlin reported, the two leaders exchanged views on regional security issues, especially in terms of finding ways to resolve the situation in Syria and the establishment of effective international cooperation in the fight against so-called Islamic State and other terrorist groups.
The heads of state also discussed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in connection with the situation around the holy sites in East Jerusalem. "The problems of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement were discussed, taking into account the tense situation around the holy sites in East Jerusalem," RIA Novosti cited the press service report.
