Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a telephone conversation to discuss issues of Russian gas transit to the European Union via Ukraine, the Kremlin press service said.
"In the context of today’s round of trilateral Russia-EU-Ukraine ministerial consultations in Brussels, the sides exchanged views on the problem of Russian gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine’s territory after the expiration of the existing contract in late 2019," the statement reads.
In addition, Putin and Merkel discussed the memorandum between Russia and Turkey on Syrian regulation, TASS reported.
