Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The corresponding decree of the head of state is posted on the official Internet portal of legal information.
"For great merits in strengthening friendship and cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan, award Mirziyoyev Shavkat Miromonovich, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the Order of Alexander Nevsky," the document reads.
On July 5, a telephone conversation took place between the presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan, Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during which the parties confirmed their mutual intention to further strengthen the Russian-Uzbek strategic partnership and alliance.
Recall that from 2013 to 2016, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan. In 2016, he was elected as president of the country, and in 2021 he was re-elected for a second term. The current term expires in 2026, however, if a new Constitution is adopted, the terms will be reset.
