Russian President Vladimir Putin is a consistent advocate of restoring Russian-US ties, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Peskov noted that Putin will receive credentials from new US Ambassador Jon Huntsman among other new ambassadors to Russia today.
"President Putin is a consistent advocate of restoring Russian-US ties, but certain problems exist in this spheres due to US moves," he said.
"However, we hope of course that led by the new ambassador, the US diplomatic mission will be able to make substantial contribution to restoring our relations from the damage done by Washington’s actions," TASS cited the Kremlin spokesman as saying.
