Putin discusses Syria with Russian Security Council

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the Syrian crisis with the country’s Security Council in the wake of the latest agreement with the United States on a ceasefire in Syria, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“The situation in Syria was discussed at the meeting in the context of the recent Russian-American agreements,” Peskov said of the long-anticipated deal reached between the Russian and US diplomats on Friday.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Kremlin administration, Anton Vaino, the Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Mikhail Fradkov, and the special representative of Russian President on environmental management, environment and transport, Sergei Ivanov.

On Friday, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry announced a new plan on Syria, which stipulates a ceasefire that will come into force on September 12, Sputnik reminds.
