Putin holds talks with South African president

President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation. This was reported by the Kremlin press service.

During the talks, Putin informed Ramafosa about the reasons and goals of the special military operation to protect Donbass, as well as about the situation in the negotiations with of the Ukrainian authorities' representatives.

In turn, the South African leader expressed support for ongoing political and diplomatic efforts in the situation with Ukraine. "It was agreed to maintain contacts", the Kremlin's press service said in a statement.
