Putin invited for football match in Antalya

According to Turkish mass media, Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit a friendly match between the two countries on football in the context of his working visit on August 31st. No official confirmation of this information yet. Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov neither denied, nor confirmed this information.

The Turkish side also didn’t answer the question: Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said today that they are waiting President Putin in Antalya, stressing that his presence at a football match will be one of the final confirmation of the restoration of political relations between the two countries.

The president at National Strategy Institute, Mikhail Remizov, noted in a conversation with a Vestnik Kavkaza correspondent the reality of the visit will depend on concrete steps on the Syrian crisis, which Russia can expected from Turkey. 

"If there is any chances will support us on the Syrian issue, the visit to Antalyais a good ability to negotiate,’’ he explained.

Deputy Chairman of the Association of Russian Diplomats, Andrey Baklanov, agreed that Ankara use chances to intensify the dialogue when there is no new events on the agenda. 

"High-level visits are prepared to sum up the results of previous work, which is carried out at the level of experts and inter-governmental commission, but Turkey is interested in intensifying of contacts with Russia because of the situation in the region, including those due concerns about the Kurdish segment, military and political actions. Therefore Ankara accelerates all that relates to the interaction at a high level,’’ he said.
