Putin meets expectations of Russians, opinion poll informs

The “Public Opinion” Fund has conducted a survey showing that almost half of Russians (48%) believe that the Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently coping with his presidential duties better than during the first two terms of his presidency. Every tenth citizen of the country has the opposite opinion. Another 35% of the respondents say that Putin copes with the responsibilities just as well as before, according to survey.

Besides that, today 38% of Russians have better opinion of the head of state than in 2000, when he became the president of the Russian Federation for the first time, whereas 42% did not change their opinion. 11% of the respondents reported the negative dynamic. In general, the majority of Russians (69%) pointed out that Putin's performance is consistent with what they had expected from him four years ago. At the same time one in five (19%) provided the opposite opinion.

As for the specific actions and Putin's statements made last year, the Russians first of all mentioned ‘protection of Syria’ (8%). Another 7% of respondents liked the most that Putin ‘supports Crimea, Crimea became a part of Russia’ (7%). In addition, 5% of Russians named the ‘hot line’ with Putin, the way the problems were addressed and resolved in the course of the hot line. The respondents pointed out the ‘concern for the people, the right social policy’, and in general ‘the actions on the international arena, the strong political position’.  51 % of respondents found it difficult to reply.

At the same time, 5% of respondents do not like that ‘the help is sent everywhere, when we are barely surviving ourselves’.  Another 4% do not like the ‘bad social policy, low standard of living’ (4%). In addition, 2% of Russians were dissatisfied with the rising prices, the lack of control over government officials and the lack of attention to domestic policy issues.  42% of respondents found it difficult to respond to this question, Interfax writes.
