Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani held a meeting on the sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly yesterday. At the meeting, the Russian president expressed his condolences over the deaths of Iranian pilgrims in a stampede in Mecca.
The two presidents also stressed the success of cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Russian president said that Moscow is highly satisfied with bilateral cooperation. "And on the global arena, including the fight against terrorism, on security issues, our joint work on the peaceful atom and other large projects that have been widely discussed recently," Gazeta.ru cited him as saying.
Meanwhile, Rouhani expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the work done on Iran's nuclear deal by the P5+1 group of countries and stressed that these arrangements will pave the way for the development of mutual cooperation in science and technology and other areas.
