Putin rehabilitates Crimean Italians

Today Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree rehabilitating the Crimean Italians, the official website of the Kremlin reports.

Recall that on Friday, Putin met with representatives of the Italian diaspora. They asked the President to complete the list of rehabilitation of European peoples who were deported together with the Crimean Tatars after World War II.

"Take a series of measures to restore historical justice, political, social and spiritual revival of the Armenian, Bulgarian, Greek, Italian, Crimean Tatar and German peoples, who were deported illegally, as well as those who were repressed on ethnic, political and other grounds,’’ RIA Novosti cites the text of the document.

It is reported that there are about 500 Crimean Italians in Crimea today.
