Putin says to Pashinyan: ceasefire must be observed

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the need for strict observance of a ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan during a phone call with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on May 13, the Kremlin said.

The parties exchanged views on the recent incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Putin emphasized the need to strictly comply with all the provisions of the statements by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan of November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021, first and foremost, in terms of strict observance of the ceasefire

Russia is ready to continue active mediation efforts and maintain close contacts with Yerevan and Baku in order to ensure stability in the region.

Pashinyan expressed gratitude to the Russian leader and spoke in favor of constructive dialogue and interaction in order to resolve all emerging problems peacefully.

In addition, Putin and Pashinyan raised the issues of restoring economic ties, and transportation and logistics links in the South Caucasus, and agreed on further contacts at various levels.
