Putin scores five goals during traditional Night Ice Hockey League gala in Sochi

Russian President Vladimir Putin scored five goals for his ‘Hockey Legends’ squad as part of the annual gala match of the renowned Night Ice Hockey League at Sochi’s Bolshoi Ice Dome Arena on Thursday, TASS reported.

The Russian president scored two goals in the opening period and recorded an assist in the second period before scoring three more goals in the closing 20-minute stretch of the game to leave the final result of 12-7 flashing on the scoreboard with the final siren.

Putin’s teammates were Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, Olympic champs Vyacheslav Fetisov, Aleksey Kasatonov, Valery Kamensky, Pavel ‘Russian Rocket’ Bure and others. Tula Region Governor Aleksey Dyumin was again on Putin’s team serving as a goaltender just like last year. Putin wore again his customary red ice hockey jersey, sporting number 11.

The opponents in the white jerseys were the Night Ice Hockey League’s combined team made up of Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov, Norilsk Nickel CEO Vladimir Potanin and others.
