The law enforcement bodies of Georgia have conducted a special operation in the Pankisi Gorge, during the course of which a cousin of one of the leaders of the terrorist group Islamic State was arrested.
In addition, in the course of the operational activities, which were attended by about 100 security forces officers, Gaioz Borchashvili was detained, who is considered to be a representative of ISIS in the country. In addition, three other people were detained. All of them are suspected of having links to ISIS and of recruiting local residents to the organization.
According to Georgian media, similar operations are being held in Tbilisi and the Telavi district, Lenta.ru reports.
