According to an article of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, published today on the website of the Foreign Ministry, the republic expects significant expansion of the powers of the regional authorities. Thus, the new responsibilities will be issued in three stages.
According to Trend, first, this year and next year the local governments will be able to agree on the candidacy of district governors of cities, towns, villages and rural districts before making the district maslikhat and conduction of elections, as well as to initiate the impeachment of governors. At the same time they will be able to control the use of land within settlements, nominate the heads of government agencies and the local community to collect two new taxes - the transport and land taxes from legal entities.
