Religious leaders of Azerbaijan address international community

The Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Archbishop of the Baku and Azerbaijan eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church, Alexander Ishein, and  the Chairman of the religious community of Mountain Jews Milikh Yevdayev, in connection with the anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy sent an appeal signed by representatives of the three religions to foreign parliaments, religious leaders and international organizations.

The appeal says that there are no such people, and there is no religion which would justify such crimes as violence, murder and aggression.

The authors call to recognize the 1992 events as a genocide: "We urge the world's religious leaders, parliaments, international organizations and the European Court of Human Rights to give a principled political and legal assessment of the criminal acts and to recognize the Khojaly massacre as genocide," the statement says.
