The ruling Republican Party of Armenia has nominated Armen Sargsyan as its presidential candidate today.
The deadline for nomination of presidential candidates had been set for Wednesday at 18:00.
The National Assembly will start an appropriate discussion today, and the presidential vote in the parliament will take place already tomorrow, ARKA reported.
Armenia's current president Serzh Sargsyan nominated former prime minister Armen Sargsyan in January to succeed him as his term neared its end. Armen Sargsyan is a businessman and Yerevan’s ambassador to Britain and the president said he had chosen him because of his experience as a diplomat and manager.
