The search and rescue operation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has been completed. As a result of the explosion, one person died - an employee of the restaurant Maya Akhundova, born in 1979. Another 37 were injured, six are in serious condition. Two foreign citizens are among the victims. An Italian citizen was taken to the Republican Clinical Hospital with a maxillofacial injury, his condition is stable. A citizen of Senegal was taken to the "Narimanov Medical Center", his condition is assessed as serious.
The cause of the accident became known after the investigation of the scene of the accident by "Azerigas". The restaurant was not connected to the gas networks and used propane cylinders as fuel, one of which caused the tragedy.
14 cars, one apartment and two non-residential objects were damaged by the explosion in the district.
A criminal case has been initiated on the incident's fact under Articles 225.2 (violation of fire safety rules - negligently resulting in the death of the victim or other grave consequences) and 314.2 (by negligence - resulting in the death of the victim or other grave consequences) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
