Review of Georgian mass media from 4 to 10 of September

One of the most interesting political events of the week discussed in the Georgian media mass was the personnel changes in the government – the resignation of Tamar Beruchashvili from the post of Foreign Minister and the appointment of the former minister of economy Giorgi Kvirikashvili in her place.

"I hope that Giorgi Kvirikashvili will not only be a good diplomat, but also an economist. But there is one problem: it takes time, which Georgia doesn’t have. However, if he appoints Tamar Beruchashvili as his first deputy at once we will have a really strong tandem that will definitely help both foreign relations and the economy. Frankly speaking, the main idea of these changes is quite another thing. I will explain it later, but for now I just want to ask you: ‘’When does he finally become an effective figure as vice-premier?!" Kviris Palitra cites the expert Josef Tsiskarishvili.

"Regarding the assumptions that the post of Foreign Minister will be temporary for Kvirikashvili and he will be prepared for the post of the president of the NBG, it is no good if someone considers the Foreign Ministry to be a mid-level-agency, which can only be used as a springboard," he added .

Journalists also noted other personnel changes by the ruling coalition Georgian Dream in its regional offices. Many people perceive them as a kind of campaign before the start of next year's parliamentary elections.

"The election campaign in the region has already begun with the attack on the chairman of the Sakrebulo. The first impeachment was organized on September 1st of the chairman of the Senaki Sakrebulo. Then personnel changes were announced in the municipalities. This process is expected in several areas before the elections.

According to the Executive Secretary of Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, there are some problems in ten districts, but everything is "under control" and the situation won’t be exacerbated. According to the analyst, Georgian Dream started a campaign and we certainly expect personnel changes in the municipalities,’’ Resonance reports.

"Problems arose not only in Senaki and Gori recently. But the question of distrust regarding the chairman of the Gori Sakrebulo, his deputy mayor and another member of the commission was initiated by the National Movement.’’

The meeting was cancelled due to the lack of a quorum. The initiator of the impeachment in Senaki became the Georgian Dream coalition itself. Everything was quickly dealt with and the chairman of the City Council was dismissed by a majority of the votes cast.
