Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Baku perfectly organized, Margarita Mamzina says

There is an excellent organization of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Baku, the head coach of the US national team Margarita Mamzina said in an interview with the Vestnik Kavkaza correspondent.

“We have performed many times in Baku at the World Cups. Honestly, every year the organization is getting only better. The arena and hall are so cozy and comforting, there is no fear of the arena and audience when you step up at the venue. Everything is very comfortable. The organization is great,” the coach said.

She added that today,  rhythmic gymnastics is still not very popular in the United States. "In America, immigrants mainly practice gymnastics. Although there are already many American girls doing gymnastics. We have Camilla Fili, our medalist. She is American. Before that, we had Jesse Kerber. That is, American girls are starting to do gymnastics. Parents understand how good this sport for girls is. We compete with artistic gymnastics. The fact is that artistic gymnastics in the US appeared earlier, and we were a little late. But I think that in 20 years we will succeed,” Margarita Mamzina said.

She emphasized that at present most of the girls in the American team are from immigrant families, but they were born in the United States. She recalled Laura Zeng, who won the Longines Prize for Elegance (Miss Elegance) the day before. “She is Chinese, but she was born in the US,” the head coach of the American team said.

This week, on September 16-22, the 37th World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships is held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. The tournament is the qualification competition for the 32nd Olympic Games in Tokyo. More than 300 gymnasts from 61 countries are competing for nine sets of medals. The motto of the tournament is “Fairy tales will come to life”.
