Rima Sarkisova: for centuries Armenians and Azerbaijanis lived side by side in single family

Baku is hosting an international conference entitled 'Azerbaijan’s multiculturalism model: ethno-cultural diversity'. The event is organized by the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons in partnership with Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC), and institutions of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

A member of the board of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Civil Peace Platform, Rima Sarkisova, said that intercultural and interethnic relations are especially painful for the nations facing conflicts.

"For centuries we lived side by side together in our single Azerbaijani family," she recalled.

The public figure appealed to all representatives of the Armenian nation. "It's time to stop the fascist power of Sargsyan and achieve peace in our land," she called on.

"Today's tolerant, developed and civilized Azerbaijan is a vivid embodiment of the model of successful adaptation of multiculturalism and internationalism in one country," a member of the board of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Civil Peace Platform stressed.

Sarkisova said that though she was forced to leave his homeland due to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, over these years she has always maintained contact with her relatives and friends living in Baku.
