The drop in the value of the ruble will have a positive impact on exports of Russian weapons and armaments abroad, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said at MAKS-2015.
"In some sense, it will be beneficial [the depreciation of the ruble exchange rate – VK] for the defense industry for the simple reason that it will be beneficial for our exporters. We are now solidly standing in second place in sales of arms abroad, we earn about 15 billion dollars annually on the arms market, so the exchange rate of the ruble will make our supplies more beneficial for our industry," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Rogozin clarified that the currency will be worth more rubles, "it means that we, at the expense of arms exports, can make additional purchases of machine equipment, expand production facilities."
