Ross Brawn: thanks to Baku for Formula 1 Circuit

Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix is very important and memorable for many people, Formula One's motorsport managing director Ross Brawn said during the free practice session.

He noted that it's his first time in Baku. "I'm very impressed. Thank you for building such a beautiful circuit." The city is very beautiful, and these competitions will be very significant and memorable," the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza cuted Brawn as saying.

The motorsport managing director said that the leadership of the organization is more concerned now about the further development of F1. "So, we have created a new team that will be engaged in making it interesting and spectacular for both the audience and teams. Experts are trying to erase the differences that exist between large and small teams, to create a competition. We will try to achieve a situation when small teams receive most of our commercial profits to develop themselves," he noted.

Ross Brawn said that they also plan to increase the number of F1 teams to 12-13. Certain changes, that will begin to be implemented after 2019, will affect the very format of the race, they will help increase interest in the competition.

"However, global changes will be launched after 2021, when we will switch to new engines. So, 2021 will determine the future of Formula 1. The issue of new engines is the main stumbling block among both specialists and pilots. Our task is to supply teams with more capacious but less expensive engines. Among other things, our main goal is to reduce the total weight of the machines, which will contribute to the growth of speed," Ross Brawn explained.

Formula One's motorsport managing director agreed that engines are too expensive for the teams. "Today, changing the cost of engines will cause revolutionary changes in races, as it will enable such high-level companies like BMW and Porsche to enter the market as well," he concluded.
