Rouhani: today's elections symbolize independence

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has described today's elections as a symbol of the independence and sovereignty of the country.

According to him, Iranians are now deciding on the future of the republic.

"The elections are being held in full security and stability with a high presence of voters," IRNA cited the president as saying.

Rouhani also urged to respect the parliament of the next convocation, which will be elected based on the vote of the majority of citizens, Trend reports.
