Rushan Abbyasov: Active work on religious education of youth is carried out in North Caucasus

Active work is being carried out in the North Caucasus in order to convey to all young people and all residents of the region what the religion of Islam contains. First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council Rushan Abbyasov made such a statement in an exclusive interview with Vestnik Kavkaza today. "We recently visited one of the unique centers for memorizing the Holy Quran in Argun. It is one of the five centers that have been opened recently. Children and boys study the Koran there. Annually one hundred people graduate from the institutions and become Hafiz and connoisseurs of the Holy Quran. Of course, both from the Islamic Institute, and various madrasas," he explained.

"A large number of mosques are constructed today, where the faithful can receive knowledge from Imams. They can communicate there and listen to television and radio programs about Islam. We can see what efforts are being made today in Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia and other republics of the North Caucasus, where great attention is paid to the process of spiritual rebirth. Unfortunately, young people sometimes are on the wrong track because they ignore some rules of Islam. Our task is to eliminate laziness. So our clergy, together with the regional authorities, does its best in order to educate our young people and give them a true knowledge of Islam,’’ the first deputy chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia said.

As an example he gave the Chechen Republic. The head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov, as well as heads of the city and all those who help, have managed to change the city’s appearance for the better during a short period of time. "We notice every time we arrive there that Grozny is becoming more beautiful. Certainly, it is an important factor for those people who live in their homes, flats, so that they could study," Rushan Abbyasov said.

In addition, he informed that the Council of Muftis of Russia is actively working with all spiritual centers. "In particular, we are working with Azerbaijan. The Deputy Mufti himself, Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Azerbaijan, respected Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazade, attended the opening ceremony of the Cathedral Mosque in Moscow. In addition, we hold joint conferences. Certainly, this work is in progress with our regions. Because as it is stated in the Holy Quran: ‘‘stick to Allah’s covenants, do not separate." Despite some inter-religious differences, I mean the subdivision into the Sunnis and the Shiites. We always adhere to the signs of the Holy Quran in Russia, according to which true believers are brothers. Certainly, on the basis of these verses, we must do as much good and correct things together, without separating," the First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council Rushan Abbyasov concluded.
