Ruslan Hajiyev: Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held in a calm atmosphere

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held in a calm atmosphere, Georgian MP Ruslan Hajiyev, who arrived in Baku as an international election observer, said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza.

“We, as representatives of the Georgian parliament, as observers, see that everything is going quietly and calmly. We can see high level of organization. It's morning now, the weather is cold, so turnout will probably increase later,” he said.

Elections to the Azerbaijani parliament of the sixth convocation kicked off Feb.9. Around 883 international and 77,790 local observers will observe the voting process. Of the local observers, 35,152 are representatives of political parties. International observers represent 58 countries and 59 organizations.
