Russia and Armenia to set up joint airline

Russia and Armenia to set up joint airline

Armenia and Russia will create a joint airline, the Armenian Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Vahan Martirosyan, said following his visit to Moscow this week.

The two sides set up a task force to look into the possibilities of establishing an Armenian national airline that would operate flights by Russia-made SSJ100 aircraft.

According to Russian sources, a roadmap of the project, which is being carried out jointly by Russian  Sukhoi Civil Aircrafts  and Soglasie companies, has been developed.

Vahan Martirosyan explained that the sides discussed establishing a joint airline, not an Armenian national airline, ARKA reports.

The minister said that all the issues are still under discussion. He noted that the participation of the Armenian government in the joint project was not discussed yet.
