The Federal Service for Execution of Punishment reported today that the number of prisoners in Russia fell to the lowest level in the history of the Russian Federation. For the moment, 602176 people are serving sentences in penitentiaries.
The department recalled that a year ago, there were 630 thousand people in prisons and colonies, 701 thousand in 2013, 886 thousand people in 2008.
